Roger unveils his new works at the gallery

Artist Roger Davies is unveiling an exhibition of new artwork at the Harrison Lord Gallery in Brighouse on Saturday, November 9.

The show includes a selection of what Roger believes are his best paintings so far and runs for three weeks.

Roger will be in the gallery on Saturday to meet visitors.

The Brighouse-based artist starred in an episode of the BBC One TV programme Home Is Where The Art Is and his reputation in the art world is on the rise.

Roger is well known locally as a singer songwriter, and he decided last year to launch his art career having been trained in art before his music career took off.

He has never looked back since with a series of sell out shows.

Steven Lord, gallery owner, said “I’ve known Roger for many years and it’s been amazing to see his art career take off.

“He has developed a unique style which really captures our local community and people love his work.”

Much of the artwork in this exhibition celebrates aspects of his locality featuring subjects which people will easily recognise.

Some of the paintings celebrate Huddersfie­ld Town whilst in others, we see well known landmarks such as Castle Hill or Bettys Café.

Some paintings in the show are presented as a tribute to Roger’s local art hero and old friend, the late “Pennine Landscape Painter” Peter Brook.

In a series of pictures, Rogseen er can be watching Peter sketching in various different locations.

Previously, Roger Davies has enjoyed three sold out exhibition­s at the Harrison Lord Gal30 lery.

All paintings in this new exhibition have been created during the past few months and Roge ris looking forfindhow ward to ing out they will be relove ceived.

“I having the opporexhib­it tunity to my artwork and meet people who are interested in my paintings,” he said.

“The show includes some of my best work so far and I hope people will be able to tell how much fun I had creating it.”

Roger Davies will be at the gallery from 11am to 2pm on Saturday for a meet the artist event.

All are welcome and entry is free.
