was Alia Abid who spoke of her RYLA experience which was quite amusing. She gave a very good presentati­on with lots of photograph­s and told how she had learnt so much and that she had gained so much confidence in herself and her leadership skills. She thanked the Rotary Club of Elland for sponsoring her. Next was Emily Crowe who spoke of her trip to Peru. She told how she had to raise the money for the trip herself and thanked the Rotary Club for their contributi­on. Next was Will Martin who spoke of his Rotary Youth Leadership experience where he learnt about team building, orienteeri­ng, and many other useful skills. He said it was a marvellous character building week which he shall never forget. Then Faye Barker told of her visit to China where she joined 30 others who also went. The trip cost her £2,000 which she had to raise herself. She said it was well worth it as she learnt lots of DIY Skills whilst building a toilet and other building projects. Rotarian Rosemary Wilkinson gave the vote of thanks and spoke of the four young people with different experience­s who had each given great presentati­ons. Head

Friends of Crow Wood Park

The last two coffee mornings at the park will be on Wednesday, November 20 and Wednesday, December 11 in the pavilion as usual at 10am. The December morning will feature Christmas baking. The mornings this year have been very well attended providing funds which will be used towards the upkeep of the park. The mornings will hopefully start again in March 2020. On Saturday, November 30 the Friends will be hosting Rob Hamilton who will give a talk ’The Stott Diaries’ based on diaries kept during the First World War by a business man in Elland and the social attitudes of the time. Admission is free.
