Hinchcliffe and Sanasy demonstrate their class in Cleethorpes and Hull trips

-

HALIFAX BOXING Club had another successful weekend with 14-year-old Joe Hinchcliffe travelling to the Cleethorpes Beachcombers Club on Saturday.

He was boxing Cleethorpes Trinity ABC’s Max Shaw in a spectacular, well attended show.

Coach Mick Rowe, who travelled with the Halifax boxer, said Hinchcliffe boxed brilliantly, winning the first two rounds easily.

The youngster got caught in the third round, which the referee decided to give a count for, but that only spurred the Halifax

fighter on towards a unanimous victory.

The club then travelled to Hull on Sunday, with Rhys Sanasy contesting the regional finals, Yorkshire versus North East.

Sanasy was fighting Empire ABC’s Cameron Vroon, an England international, meaning the Halifax fighter was up against age and experience.

Rowe said: “I thought Rhys boxed great, with no nerves and he scored some great shots.

“It was a bit annoying the judges deemed the performance unanimous against him as we felt it was more split than that.

“But the England boxer’s more polished performance had them leaning towards the north east boxer.

“Still, it was a great experience. Rhys has the Yorkshire Championships under his belt and will come back stronger.”

All the boys will be appearing on the club’s first show on November 29 at their Old Lane base.

Tickets are on sale now from the club. If anyone would like to sponsor the club, they can ring Mick Rowe on 07870 266002.
