Captain’s Column

-

THE LADS are looking forward to having a game again after having last weekend off.

We’re itching for a game to put things right and I think the break’s done us the world of good. The lads have come back this week and worked hard in training.

We know it’s going to be a tough game but we’re going into it looking for three points.

I think the break came at a good time because of how the results were going. It stopped a bit of a rot.

The way the lads have come back this week, they look recharged and we’re looking forward to the game.

I’ve done a good couple of training sessions now and the attitude has been brilliant, really lively and everyone’s really chirpy.

I trained last week. I wasn’t down to play in the County Cup game that was called off.

I’ve done a bit of a fitness programme over the weekend, and I’ve been in full training this week.

It feels like a long time ago since my last game. I remember the exact moment the injury happened against Solihull.

It’s been a long road. It was driving me insane, I’m not the greatest watcher. You just want to be playing, helping the lads and trying to put this club back to where it wants to be.

As a footballer, you have the game to keep you distracted, but when that gets taken away from you, you don’t have that fix.

The only thing you can take your anger out on are the weights in the gym.

I wasn’t allowed to do a lot of lower limb conditioning with it being a hamstring injury, so I’ve become obsessed with the gym over the past couple of months.

It’s a distraction, and if you didn’t have that, you’d go insane. It is a really lonely place and my advice for anyone with a long-term injury would be, as soon as you get injured, find yourself a distraction. If you don’t get into something and allow yourself to become a slob, it’ll take you twice as long getting back.
