In-form Sowerby Bridge start as hot favourites against neighbours United

-

PREMIER DIVISION leaders Sowerby Bridge make the short trip to Sowerby United with high hopes of strengthening their position at the top.

The Bridge are the only unbeaten side in the top flight and will start hot favourites against the goal shy hosts.

Hebden Royd Red Star are in second place and take on third placed Shelf FC in a massive clash for two title chasing sides.

Red Star, with Lewis Cockroft in top form, will be hard to beat but Shelf, in Carl Lewis, have a striker who is a match winner.

First Division leaders AFC Crossleys were due to play now defunct Illingworth St Mary’s Res so now have a free date. Salem can take over at the top if they win at third placed Calder 76. This may not be easy against hosts who were in fine form last week in their big win at Shelf United Res.

Ryburn United are on the tails of the top three and would boost their promotion hopes if they beat St Columbas.

Bottom club Midgley United

Res host promotion hopefuls Elland United and could be in for a tough afternoon. Northowram Res face Shelf United Res and badly need the win to improve their chances of climbing up the table.

Hebden Royd Red Star Res lead the Second Division and hold a six point advantage over second place Ivy House. Red Star travel to third placed Flying Dutchman for what could be a test. Ivy House have found goals, 55 in nine outings, easy to come by and will give Sowerby United Res plenty to think about.

Calder 76 Res have been steadily climbing the table and their trip to Sowerby Bridge Res could see them climb even higher. Greetland Res have been somewhat out of sorts of late but can buck the trend at Warley Rangers. Shelf FC Res host AFC Crossleys in what could be a close game between two improving sides.

Greetland will be looking to book their place in the semi final of the Skircoat Green Physiotherapy Challenge Cup when they take on Northowram at Goldfields. Winners in 2018,

Greetland cannot underestimate the Rams who have plenty of big game experience.

The AFL’s last remaining side in the WRCFA Challenge Cup Shelf United take on West Yorkshire League First Division high flyers Otley Town. It’s a big test for Shelf but one that is not beyond them.
