Captain’s Column

-

I WOULDN’T really have wanted the break because we’d got some good momentum being unbeaten in three.

I watched from the stands when Yeovil beat us at The Shay and I thought they were decent, a very powerful team and deservedly winners on the day.

They turned us over at our home ground so we’ve got a point to prove against them on Saturday. We want to go down there full of confidence and put a performance in.

We prepare as best we can for these long away trips, and do everything we can to make sure we’re fresh.

You’ve got to try and focus and zone yourself in as best you can.

We’ll usually train on Friday morning before a long away trip, then get on the coach and travel down.

Depending on what time we get down there, maybe about five or six o’clock, we’ll eat about 7pm, then have a team meeting.

We’ll have a breakfast the next day, maybe another meeting, and then head to the stadium for the game.

Then depending on the result, it’s a long trip back!

You look at those fixtures and think you don’t want to be planning anything around those days because you’re going to be very tired.

Sometimes if you’re on the end of a bad result somewhere down south it can be a gruelling journey back.

But we’ve been good on the road this year, we’ve picked up some good results down south. We just want to continue that. I think Yeovil are going to be there or thereabouts come the end of the season so it’s a good test to see where we’re at.

The games come thick and fast over this Christmas period now so if you can pick up some momentum you can take a lot of points. We’ve got some big fixtures, we’re up there at the moment but let’s see what we’re made of.

If we can come through this part of the season and still be in there by the end of January we can have a real push for the play-offs, if not better.
