HALIFAX LADIES beat Sheffield University Bankers 4-0 in the first of the return fixtures in North Division Two, following on from a tight 4-3 win in the opening fixture of the season.

The deadlock was broken just before half time when Courtenay Fisher fired into the top corner from a Katie Wood pass across the D.

As the second half began, Wood carried the ball from the attacking 23 metre line into the D and with a perfect strike nailed it into the bottom right corner to double Halifax’s lead.

With Halifax in full flow and showing why they are topping the table, captain Dani Parker beat the keeper one on one.

Emma Liversidge completed the scoring, striking the ball perfectly across the keeper from the last short corner.

HALIFAX LADIES seconds beat Brigg 4-2, taking the early lead with a deflection from Millie Cockcroft-Smith.

Some brilliant passing found Emily Crowe, allowing her to move past several defenders to strike the second goal.

Halifax were awarded another short corner in the last seconds of the first half. This time Catherine Vose stepped up from defence to receive the ball at the top of the D. Her powerful shot on goal allowed Isobel Crowe to deflect the ball into the back of the net for a half time score of 3-0.

In the second half, Brigg stepped up their game and came back fighting. Although several attempts on goal had been successful blocked by the Halifax defence and Tracey Ingleson in goals, Brigg managed to find two goals in quick succession.

Halifax were not ready to turn over against the higher placed team and several more short corners were awarded to Halifax as they applied pressure of their own.

It was from a short corner in the 68th minute that they scored their fourth goal; finishing the game how it started with a strike from Millie CockroftSmith.

HALIFAX LADIES thirds finished on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline at mid-table Louth.

Louth went ahead with a goal from a penalty corner and kept attacking but goalkeeper Kathy Shao made some great saves.

A quick counter attack from a Halifax penalty corner saw Louth get their second goal of the match.

Halifax responded before half time. Courtney White setting up Margaret Bottomley.

Another penalty corner saw Louth get their third but Halifax responded not long after with and Helen Williams hitting the target.

HALIFAX LADIES fourths team suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat at home to Harrogate to dent their challenge for promotion going into the Christmas break.

The game was far from one sided, but despite many attacks up the right with Hannah Smith and Connie Attwood connecting with forward Angel Bentley shots were blocked by defenders and the Harrogate keeper was not really tested.
