Men sit in fifth place after beating York

-

HALIFAX MEN’S firsts produced a good all round display to see off Leeds 6-2 in the Yorkshire Premier League, keeping them in fifth place with a game in hand.

Goals were shared out between Michael Jones, Casy Marshall, Sam Spencer, John Horsley, Rob Amos and man of the match Jack Thomson.

The men’s seconds were on the end of some challenging umpiring decisions but never gave up in a tricky 9-0 loss at Driffield.

Captain Simon Arch was really proud of the way they kept their heads in a difficult game. 15 year old Finlay Parker had a good game as did Lee Power in the Halifax goal.

The men’s thirds celebrated success away at Leeds Adel, 2-0, with goals from Steve Fawkes and David Barlow.

Meanwhile, the fourths did not give up against a young

Leeds team and fought back from 4-1 down to 4-3 with two great goals from 14 year-old Jamie Hereford late on.

Halifax’s other goal came courtesy of veteran Paul Graham, deflecting the ball home from a Sam Peters shot.

HALIFAX’S UNDER 12s boys had a great morning at Leeds University in their latest Yorkshire League tournament.

The first game was a demolition of Driffield, 6-0. Amos Mackrill (4), Elliot Rudkin and Bhavan Sandhu were the scorers.

Next up was a 1-0 defeat by Leeds Adel, who went onto finish top in this league, before a hard earned 2-1 win against Sheffield, Mackrill scoring both goals.

The final match was a comfortable 2-0 win against Wakefield. Sandu and Rudkin on target again.
