Calder face another test of their title credential­s

CALDER 76 travel to Ryburn United on Saturday in what should promises to be another cracking top-of-the-table clash in Haslem-Sheppard Halifax League Division One.

Calder 76 romped to a 9-1 home triumph over Salem last time out, making it two wins from their last two and notching-up 16 goals in the process.

The result lifted Calder above Salem and into second place ahead of their next challenge this weekend when they visit Ryburn United who are unbeaten in their last six in league and cup and sit two places and two points behind Calder in the table.

A rich vein of form has seen AFC Crossleys climb to the top of the table. Wins in their last six league and cup games have been inspired by the form of Tom McGregor with ten goals and Lewis Oldridge with nine. Crossleys travel to Shelf United Reserves this weekend.

Salem will be hoping to get back to winning ways St Columbas while the bottom two clash at Northowram Reserves where Midgley United Reserves will hope to replicate their fine 8-5 win over Elland United last weekend.

Hebden Royd Red Star lost ground at the top of the HaslamShep­pard Halifax League Premier Division with a frustratin­g 3-1 home defeat to Shelf.

Sowerby Bridge retained top spot and extended their winning run to seven games with a hard earned 1-0 win at neighbours Sowerby United.

Next up for the leaders is a visit from Shelf United. Reigning champions Shelf have been a little inconsiste­nt so far but when at their best they take some beating.

Denholme United host Greetland and will be looking to pick up three precious points in their fight to edge closer to top flight safety.

Midgley United have been up and down but hosting Illingwort­h St Mary’s gives them the chance of having one of their better days.

Division Two leaders Hebden Royd Red Star Reserves were held to a draw at Flying Dutchman

last week and face another tricky test when they visit Calder 76 Reserves this weekend.

Ivy House are in sparkling form and look likely to be too strong for St Columbas Reserves.

Sowerby United Reserves have had a dip in form and will be looking find a win they need against Warley Rangers.

Greetland Reserves have been struggling and may find Flying Dutchman too hot to handle.

Sowerby Bridge Reserves have only managed to play two games since mid-October due to the weather.

They hope to get back to action when they play at AFC Crossleys Reserves.
