Captain’s Column
THERE’S NO doubt we’re ending the year in a better place than we started it as a club.
I think the club’s come an absolute mile. A lot of people criticised Jamie Fullarton for certain things, but in terms of how far the club’s moved in that time I think we’ve come on leaps and bounds.
The club’s definitely going in the right direction and we’re on our way back to becoming a Football League team.
As long as we keep picking up points then we’re on our way to giving ourselves a really good chance of having a crack at getting back into the Football League.
We’ve all challenged ourselves to do it this season, and it’d be a great achievement if we could.
I think a lot of people are getting frustrated but they’ve got to put things into perspective and think, at the start of the season, with what happened, would they have taken this position?
I think a lot of fans and players would have said ‘most definitely’.
All you can do is look to improve and the club definitely has done.
I’d say the year’s probably been a success for myself too. Earlier this season, I had an injury setback which took too long really, but you’ve got to be able to take it on the chin.
Now I’m back, feeling good and hopefully I can play the remainder of the games this season.
I feel like the fans have accepted me as one of their own and I feel really at home as a player.
I want the best for FC Halifax Town. Even though I’m not from anywhere near the area, it has become a club that means a hell of a lot to me.
I’m 29 now and I see myself seeing my career out at Halifax. I feel like I owe the club, the chairman, the fans and the manager to try and get back into the league.
That’s my burning desire and if I can help with that even one or two per cent, then great.
