Cheer

Netflix, from Wednesday

There is a lot more to cheerleading than shaking pom poms and dancing in sync with the other members of your team. This six-part documentary series follows the cheerleaders of Navarro College in Corsicana,

Texas. The small junior college has won 14 National Championships since 2000, andpartof their success is down to leader Monica Aldama. Apparently ,the only thing more brutal than their workouts and more amazing than their performances are the stories of adversity and triumph behind the team members. Cameras follow the squad as they cope with injuries, sacrifice, personal setbacks and triumphs. The focus of their energy is making it to the final competition at the National Championship, and naturally there’s plenty of drama along the way.

New series. Emma

Willis (left) hosts the spinning-chair singing contest, in which celebrity ‘coaches’ seek out the nation’s best vocal talent. But there is a simple twist - with the four coaches selecting their teams through

‘blind auditions’, looks play no part in the selection process, meaning each singer is chosen on vocal ability alone. Meghan Trainor joins the show as the newest recruit to the judging panel, joining series regulars Olly Murs, Tom Jones and Will.i.am.

FILM

Atomic Blonde

Channel 4, 9pm, Saturday

In 1989 Berlin, KGB agent Yuri Bakhtin (Johannes Johannesson) shoots dead MI6 agent James Gascoigne (Sam Hargrave) on the snow-laden streets and steals a microfilm containing the names and locations of active field agents. MI6 chief Eric Gray (Toby Jones) and his gruff CIA counterpart Emmett Kurzfeld (John Goodman) pressgang elite British spy Lorraine Broughton (Charlize Theron) to locate Bakhtin and retrieve the microfilm. Her contact in Berlin is renegade station chief David Percival (James McAvoy). Atomic Blonde is an action-packed spy caper hard-wired with 1980s nostalgia.

Richarlison has been in good form for Everton this season, but can the Brazilian attacker and his teammates cause an upset on the other side of Stanley Park this afternoon?
