Title tussle as FC Panda face Cock and Bottle

-

TOP TWO Cock and Bottle and FC Panda go head-to-head in a game that could have a big say in the Calder Valley Premier Division title race.

Panda are two points clear at the top and beat Cock and Bottle 8-4 in the return game in November. But Cock and Bottle will go top with two games in hand if they win, while three points for Panda will extend their lead to five points

Third-placed Linthwaite could take advantage whoever drops points above them if they beat fifth-placed Deighton.

Bottom side Mirfield could get their first league win of the season at home to secondfrom-bottom Clifton Rangers.

In Division One, leaders FC Panda Res shouldn’t have too many problems at home to mid-table Wire Works, while Cock of the North can move up to second if they beat Woodhouse. Bottom side Thrum Hall are at home to Ryburn Valley, while second-from-bottom Snowdon host Ravenswharfe.

In Division Two, there is an intriguing battle for the title between Old Pond and Spen FC, which could take another twist this weekend. Leaders Old Pond travel to fifth-placed Triangle, with Spen, who have played two games fewer, primed to take advantage and move level on points if Pond slip-up and they win at home to seventh-placed Halifax Rangers.

The bottom-two square up as Clifton Rangers Athletic host basement-dwellers Inter Batley, with both teams looking for their first league win of the season, while Battyeford host third-placed Clifton Rangers Reserves.
