Lions’ trio see the light to win Urban Night series

STAINLAND LIONS’ Jim Harris, Andy Baird, Richard Crombie and Andrew Earnshaw teamedup to win the latest round of the Team OA Urban Night Series.

The challenge was to find checkpoint­s, in the dark, and collect as many points as possible while running a hilly fivemile route with a cut-off time of one hour.

The Lions were out in force for the long distance Hebden races on Saturday. The demanding 22-mile route has over 4,000 feet of climbing, while the 15mile route is optimistic­ally described as “less demanding”.

John Ingles was completing his ninth Hebden race in 10 years, missing just one year through injury.

Gillian Jago clocked a personal best time of 1:49:55 at the Four Villages Half Marathon, in Cheshire, while Anne-Marie Killeen finished in 222nd place in a time of 2:22:20 at the Inskip Half Marathon.

In the fourth West Yorkshire Winter League Cross Country race at Queensbury, there were good runs from Lucy Collins, Gavin Mulholland and Margaret Beever, amongst others.

Tim Brook led the charge for

Northowram Pumas in the West Yorkshire Winter League fourth round, in which 520 runners completed the 4.5 mile course.

Brook finished 17th while Lisa Hirst led the female Pumas home in 141st (20th overall female).
