Double title joy as Chevinedge juniors claim more Yorkshire Cup glory
SIDDAL UNDER 12s took on old rivals West Hull at Post Office Road to contest the BARLA Yorkshire Cup Final, winning 12-4.
The Halifax side started confidently, taking the game to their Humberside opponents. Siddal capitalised on their early pressure through a typical Caiden Williams try in the corner. The try was scored too wide for the conversion attempt and at 4-0 the game became an arm wrestle.
Playing down the Featherstone slope, West Hull hit back to level the scores at 4-4 through an unconverted try before half time. Siddal continued to play well for the remainder of the half, which ended 4-4.
In a repeat of the opening period, Siddal started the second half in confident fashion. Following a passage of enterprising play, Siddal’s captain Jude Jackson took on the West Hull defence and glided through to score a typical hooker’s try. Again the conversion attempt was wide but Siddal were back in front at 8-4.
West Hull threw everything at Siddal in an attempt to get back into the game but Siddal’s defence held firm.
Some great forward work set the foundations which led to the backs showing their skills and great footwork from the BARLA man-of-the-match Tommy Rhodes led to another unconverted try taking the score to 12-4.
Siddal’s defence held, full back Oliver Samples with two try saving tackles.

Champions in their first season of playing competitive rugby.
Siddal’s under 16s kept up their fantastic junior record by recording another Yorkshire Cup win against Stanningley on Sunday, emerging 28-6 victors.
In previous years, the same team has won the Yorkshire Cup at Under 13 and Under 15 as well as the National Cup at Under 15 level.
Siddal’s try scorers were Will Gatus (2), Harvey Oldroyd, Luca Powell, Levi Edwards and Joe Moriarty. Kai Morgan added two conversions.
