The next Antony and Friends informal chamber music concert is on Saturday February 22. “I am thrilled to be joined by two excellent musicians, Rachael

Gibbo, clarinet, and Maxine Molin Rose, harp,” said pianist Antony Brannick.

“Both are very experienced and highlyskilled on their respective instruments and both are familiar figures to these concerts,” he sad,

Rachael often appears as soloist in addition to her teaching role at the Royal Northern College of Muisc in Manchester.

Maxine is much in demand throughout the north west both as performer and teacher.

“It is a true delight to have them perform together at the next Friends concert,” said Antony.

On the programme will be solo items and arrangements of music for the unusual combination of instruments.

“While you may not have heard of the composers you will certainly appreciate and enjoy the variety of music and technical abilities of the performers,” he said. Music by Paul Reade with his suite from The Victorian Kitchen Garden will rub shoulders with an arrangement of an aria from Rossini’s Barber of Seville.

A Serenade by Tedeschi will be heard and music by a notable exponent of harp music Skaila Kanga will feature her Six American Sketches.

John Marson’s Arcadian Sketches and Howard Buss’s ‘Seaside Reflections make up the programme by the guests. “I will contribute some solo piano items by Ravel and Satie,” said Antony. “All in all this rather quirky musical evening promises to be great fun and highly entertaining,” he said.

The concert takes place as usual at the Central Methodist Church in Todmorden at 7.30pm. Entrance is free and refreshments are provided. A retiring collection is taken.
