Abdul hopes for second hit film
INSPIRATION FOR a film that hits the big screens around the UK this month, was inspired as its maker helped his father in the Piece Hall, Halifax.
Abdul Hafiz, a West Yorkshire businessman whose father, Mohammed Salim, worked as a Halifax market trader, is about to unleash his new film RAAGNI into cinemas and streaming services, and believes his latest offering has everything needed to achieve big numbers.
Filmed in London, RAAGNI was written in West Yorkshire, and tells the story of a talented musician at a top music school who falls for a woman with a tragic past.
Mr Hafiz’ previous box office smash was ‘Ek Chotsi Love Story’ which was a huge hit in India a few years ago.
“Ek Chotsi Love Story really did the business upon its release and my instinct tells me that RAAGNI will follow suit” said Mr Hafiz.
“While RAAGNI has a smaller budget, I think it is more intimate and tells a beautiful story of how love and music can change lives”.
The film-maker
is also an accomplished singer and performer. He said: “I’m passionate about many things. I like to remain quiet and unassuming, and bring love into the world.
“As a child I used to help my dad in the Piece Hall and I would dream about making a feature film to show that anyone can achieve their dreams.
“My father came to the UK in 1958 and he dreamed about finding a better life for his children. I’m grateful that I have been able to do just that.
“The songs in the film will soften even the hardest heart. I think my time in Halifax had a strong bearing on my life’s journey and is reflected in my work”.
