-

HALIFAX LADIES beat Rotheram 8-2 with an early strike from Georgia Westwood setting them on their way.

Another goal followed shortly after, midfielder Emma Liversidge the scorer.

Halifax had all the momentum and with some clinical passing, hardworking and inspiring teamwork, the third followed in quick succession when Katie Wood applied a textbook finish in a one-on-one against a young but fierce Rotherham keeper.

Halifax continued to dominate possession, Katie Love stepping through forward from defence to link up with the midfield and forwards.

Not long after Dani Parker slotted the ball into the back of the net with a strong reverse hit. In the final minutes of the first half, midfielder Lauren Vials added her name to the score sheet.

With a five -goal lead at the interval, Halifax had a convincing victory within their sights.

However, at times Halifax became complacent and although the game was one-sided, Rotherham had a few breaks.

This resulted in a penalty corner being awarded and Rotherham scoring their first goal.

Halifax stepped up and a fast, intelligent ball was sent forward by Lauren Vials, Katie Wood found herself through on another one on one, her calm and collected manner allowed her to score her second.

Michaela Holroyde also found the net, deflecting a fantastic strike from Dani Parker over the diving keeper.

In the closing minutes of the game, Emma Liversidge was rewarded with her second goal of the game from an excellent pass across goal from Katie Wood.

HALIFAX LADIES seconds edged home 4-3 at the University of Leeds.

A through ball from Natalie Tyson to Rebecca Brown put her one on one with the keeper, Brown producing a strong hit into the bottom right corner. Halifax continued to attack. A ball from Robyn Fawkes was fired into the D and a subtle touch from Lydia Presley secured a goal.

Leeds fought back with numerous attempts being blocked by Hannah Speakman and Stephanie Hoyle in defence but a short corner lead to their first goal. This took the half time score to 2-1.

For the second half Leeds stepped up their game, soon winning a second short corner and scoring a second goal.

Halifax bounced back from the set back and retook the lead when the ball was driven into the D by Presley to find Millie Cockcroft-Smith waiting on the penalty spot to fire the ball into the back of the net.

Halifax’s Izzy Crowe plucked the ball from open air to score their fourth. Leeds managed to get another short corner which saw them score their final goal.
