Can anyone stop league leaders Cock and Bottle?

- Ashley Hitchen

COCK & Bottle look to extend their lead at the top of the Calder Valley Sunday League when they visit struggling FC Hounds.

The leaders were trailing 2-1 at Clifton Rangers last Sunday when a huge chance was squandered by the hosts before the table toppers stole the three points.

Hounds have struggled just to get games on this season. However, the two sides did face off back in November; goals from Jordan Coduri and Leon HurlesBrook secured the win for Cock & Bottle.

Linthwaite are looking the most likely side if anyone is to catch the runaway leaders, and face Mirfield Town this weekend.

Feathers look to build on their solid start to the season when they face Deighton WMC.

They will need their joint top scorers Joel Clearly and Thomas Hosker to be in form for the second part of the season if they are to challenge towards the top.

Clifton Rangers will host Hollins Holme in the other game in the division.

Division One leaders Ravenswharfe will head to Rastrick to face Cock of the North full of confidence after their resounding win last Sunday.

The hosts have gone four games without a win and will need to end that run if they are to close up on the promotion places, but Ravenswharfe have won eight on the bounce in the league and won’t be willing to relinquish the top spot that easily.

Lee Mount return to league action this weekend following their success in the Andy’s Man Club League Cup. The treble is very much still on for the Halifax club as they look to close up on the leaders. They’ll host Wire Works who have had a very patchy season to date.

FC Panda Reserves head to Park FC in a game that both sides will feel they need to win to keep their promotion ambitions alive. Neither side has been in form lately but a great chance for both to get the win and kick start their campaign again.

Struggling Thrum Hall will try to build on their penalty shootout success from last Sunday when they go in search of their first points of the season against Woodhouse at Savile Park, while Wellington Westgate host struggling Snowdon.

Spen FC claimed top spot back in Division Two whilst other sides featured in the cup. This weekend they’ll be huge favourites to take the spoils against pointless Inter Batley.

In-form Sands Lane will host Clifton Rangers Reserves, Barum Top are at home to an unpredictable Battyeford.

Triangle will host Halifax Rangers at Savile Park and Clifton Rangers Athletic look to keep their turnaround going when they face Old Post Office at Deighton Sports Arena.
