Hebden Royd Red Star aim to halt Sowerby Bridge’s march to the title

-

THE ONLY game to beat the weather last week saw Premier Division leaders Sowerby Bridge stretch their lead to six points following their win over Greetland.

With just six games to play the Bridge look well on their win to the title. A trip to Hebden Royd Red Star is next up for the leaders and will not be an easy game.

Ryan Brook and his fellow defenders will be well aware of the threat of Lewis Cockroft and will be looking to keep him in check.

Going forward the Bridge have strikers in Damian Watkins and Damian Randall who know where the net is and are sure to give the Red Star defenders a busy afternoon.

Shelf United host second placed Shelf FC. United were beaten 6-2 in the season’s opener at Westwood Park but this one could be a close affair.

Mid-table finishes now look likely for both Midgley United and Greetland. The pair meet at Midgley where home soil advantage could tip the scales Midgley’s way.

Northowram will see their trip to Illingworth St Mary’s as their big chance for a win that would edge closer to top flight safety.

Sowerby United take on Denholme United in a key relegation battle. Denholme won the first meeting between the two and a repeat would leave Sowerby in big trouble.

First Division leaders AFC Crossleys can open up a five point lead at the top if they win against Midgley United Res and then with only two games left to play look almost certain for the title.

Calder 76 and St Columbas both look set to miss out on promotion but both will be keen to win their meeting at Calder

Northowram Res need at least ten points from the remaining five games to reach safety and they could see their meeting with Salem a chance of some points.

Hebden Royd Red Star Res can regain top spot in the Second Division if they gain an expected win at St Columbas Res.

Flying Dutchman would still be alive if they win a tricky looking game at Shelf FC Res.

Calder 76 Res travel to Greetland Res hoping for a win to end their recent dip in form.

Sowerby United Res have been out of sorts and may not have things all their own way at Warley Rangers.
