FOLLOWING A successful anniversary celebration at the end of last year. a Halifax church has postponed its planned filming day due to the Covid-19 situation.
All Souls Church at Haley Hill has celebrated its 160th anniversary and had a video filming day at the church planned for Saturday, April 25.
Although the event is cancelled, organisers of the People of All Souls Community Project are inviting people to share stories, photos and memorabillia from the chuch over the years.
Jane Austin said: “Our project to gather stories in video, photographs and memorabilia from the community which centred round the building was given a massive boost after our 160th anniversary celebration service in 2019 on All Souls Day. Hundreds of people came as the bells were ringing and the dignitaries gave a real sense of occasion.
“This is a great opportunity find out about your family history by talking with the older members of your family. If you have memories of the church, were married or christened here or know of relatives who were we would love for you to go searching in your lofts for photographs and get in touch with your stories.”
The historic church was built by Colonel Akroyd for his mill workers.
Anyone with any memories they have to share can contact Jane, artist in residence, at info@janeaustin.co.uk or call 01422 353308.
