CALLED TO THE BAR: DIVERSIFICATION COULD BE KEY FOR FUTURE
KIND-HEARTED RESIDENTS of the Fountain Head estate at Ovenden Wood, Halifax, rolled up their sleeves and got creative in the kitchen to deliver cakes and good cheer to key workers at Calderdale Royal Hospital.
The project was organised by car salesman Scott Roberts, following the birth of his son Chester on March 25.
Scott and his wife Ashleigh, saw how the Covid-19 outbreak was affecting the NHS and wanted to give thanks to staff at the hospital.
Scott took to Facebook to ask if people would be happy to bake some cakes for the hospital staff.
“The response was great. Fountain Head has a wonderful community feel to it. We’ve got a few residents that work at the hospital too and people were more than happy to get involved and do some baking,” said Scott.
The villagers baked 25 large cakes and several smaller treats, including cupcakes and shortbread, for staff across the hospital. Residents also wrote cards and thank you notes.
“We just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the key workers for all their hard work. We wanted do something to let them know that people want to support them during these difficult times.”
