Get your musical creativity flowing with tips from stars
Music lovers wishing to use the UK lockdown to help them be more creative are being given a helping hand ... by superstars in Nashville, USA.
The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum is presenting two of its most popular songwriting programmes as a series on Instagram Live.
Nashville grew from a foundation built on music and established a legacy that earned it its worldwide reputation.
Viewers can tune in to get inspiration from songwriting royalty and hear the intimate stories behind their favourite pop, rock and country songs, as Nashville songwriters take to the spotlight in a series of live streams.
“Music is a powerful gift that unites us, stimulates creativity and provides relief while we stay home and implement social distancing,” said Lisa Purcell, the museum’s senior vice president for education, development and community engagement. “This is why the museum will take our most popular songwriting programs live online and invite the world to participate with us.”
Nashville is calling all creatives to pick up a guitar, put pen to paper, get the creative juices flowing and learn from the best music maestros in Music City.
The museum is streaming new Songwriter Sessions on Tuesday evenings.
Audiences can interact with the talents behind country music’s biggest hits. Viewers will be encouraged to pose questions via Instagram. The Songwriter Sessions will start at 3am UK time, but can be watched later.
The May 5 session is led by Eric Paslay, whose compositions include Barefoot Blue Jean Night, Even If It Breaks Your Heart and Friday Night.
Brandy Clark, whose compositions include her singles Bigger Boat, which features Randy Newman, Hold My Hand and Who You Thought I Was, hosts on May 12.
And Charlie Worsham, whose compositions include Love You To The Moon performed by Kip Moore and his own singles Mississippi In July and Old Time’s Sake, leads the session on May 19.
And on Thursdays, the museum hosts Words & Music, which provides insight for aspiring songwriters of all ages.
Words & Music at Home is an extension of the education program Words & Music, runs at 9pm.
The programme, for aspiring songwriters of all ages, also provides a variety of resources that offer insights into writing lyrics.
Viewers can visit the museum’s website for more information and are encouraged to share their lyrics and completed songs on social media, using #WordsandMusicatHome hashtag.
