Virtual fundraiser to raise cash for sports clubs

-

A VIRTUAL fundraiser is aiming to raise £100,000 to be split 50/50 between Halifax RLFC and a grants program for junior sports in the town.

The junior grants program will be managed by Community Foundation For Calderdale, and depending on the amount raised, the hope is there will be grants of between £500 and £2,000 per recipient.

The event will be broadcast online at around 3pm on May 9 and 10 and will be a mixture of interviews, sports, comedy and music, while there will also be competitions and prizes.

“We’d love to fill a “Virtual” Shay Stadium and raise £100,000 to really show the town’s support for our sporting clubs,” said Lee Kenny, managing director of Snowflake Media.

“There will be many a youngster whose club might find it difficult to attract a kit sponsor next season, or can’t afford the proper training equipment. “We already support several clubs in the town via sponsorship and marketing support and this is a crucial time for all our sports teams if we are to thrive in the future.”
