Trust boss praises health heroes
The top bosses at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust have sent a special message out to its amazing staff. Posting the video on its social media channels the two minute clip shows staff thanking members of the public for their support.
It also shows the numerous occasions key workers including police, Calderdale Council staff and fire service personnel applauding NHS workers.
The show of support is part of the clap for carers movement that has seen the whole country gather together at 8pm on Thursdays.
In the Trust’s video chief executive of CHFT, Owen Williams, said: “I am really proud
Care to life.
“To all the amazing colleagues at Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Trust thank you for caring for each other in the same way you care for our patients, their friends and family.”
As of May 11 a total of 138 patients who were being cared for at the Trust and had tested positive for Covid-19, have sadly died.
The Trust’s Medical Director, Dr David Birkenhead said: “These are difficult times for all the families involved and our thoughts are with them”.
As of May 10 there has been over 270 confirmed cases of coronaviris in Calderdale.
Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust runs the two main hospitals in Huddersfield and Halifax and provides outreach services in the local communities.
This week has also seen the country celebrate International Nurses Day.
The International Council of Nurses (ICN) has celebrated International Nurses Day since 1965.
In January 1974, May 12th was chosen as the date to celebrate the occasion since it’s the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale.
