On your marks, get set for Overgate’s virtual Colour Run
OVERGATE HOSPICE has announced plans for a ‘virtual’ colour run after lockdown restrictions forced the shelving of its popular fundraiser this year.
Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the Elland hospice was forced to cancel all events during the busy Spring/Summer fundraising season and close all 14 of their charity shops. Despite losing these two major sources of income, the hospice still needs to find £11,600 every single day in order to continue providing its care.
To combat this, the hospice are hosting the event via social media and asking the community to take part in the colourful

fun run in the comfort of the ir own homes. The virtual event will take place on July 11 at 11am.
Faye Henderson, Head of Fundraising at Overgate Hospice, said: “With so many of our events cancelled this year, we wanted to do something to bring all of our wonderful supporters together in a fun way whilst still supporting the vital work being done at the hospice. The rainbow has become a symbol of hope during this crisis and we thought that there was no better way to celebrate our amazing community than coming together to create a rainbow of colour above Calderdale.”
