YOUR PICTURE OF THE DAY

A distinct lack of social distancing in the garden by Geoff Wright.

other buildings that had previously fallen out of use and into disrepair may well have been lost, such as Dean Clough.

Instead of constantly chipping away at Halifax’s heritage we should seek to preserve and protect it for future generations.

He’s also wrong about the swimming pool. Yes it’s in need of investment, but it is a fine example of 20th century architecture which is worthy of preservation, and not in any way brutalist.

Moreover, the mosaic would lose its context were it to be relocated to another building.

The plan put forward by the council to bulldoze it and build a car park (has anyone ever seen an attractive car park?) at a time when we desperately need to pivot away from car use to combat the climate emergency is madness.

As car use and ownership declines in the coming years, we really would be left with a white elephant. share some Upper Edge blues with you.

These traffic lights have been on Dewsbury Road for 10 days now - to build a wall at the cottages half way up.

The Elland by-pass is closed in one direction forcing traffic down Dewsbury Road, which is a steep gradient for the large vehicles (warned at the start of Dewsbury Road they should try and find an alternative route) only to be forced to slam on at the blind bend for these lights (where no one is currently working I hasten to add).

Rastrick Bridge is closed so we can’t easily get into Brighouse. Elland Road is closed so we cant get access that way.

West Vale is currently chaos with excess traffic due to the mess re-directions in place.

And just to cap it off... they are setting up another set of lights at the top of Dewsbury Road for some more road works.

It would be great to go back to the start of lockdown to ease congestion again as it’s almost like someone doesn’t want us to go anywhere.

I would’ve thought Calderdale Council should’ve intervened and moved these works to after the by-pass work.
