Ofsted to start visiting schools again

-

OFSTED will begin a programme of school “visits” from September, it has confirmed, in a bid to reassure parents over a return to education.

The inspections body will not resume full reports until at least January 2021, and the upcoming visits are to be trialled initially with volunteer schools.

Ofsted’s Chief Inspector, Amanda Spielman, stressed that visits will not be graded, but would be used as an opportunity to share with parents what steps are being taken in settings.

“Ofsted will be part of the rebuilding effort from September,” she said. “Our visits will help parents understand how schools and colleges are getting children and students back up to speed after so long at home.

“We want to help schools, by having constructive conversations and not passing judgement. We all share the same aim – helping this unique generation make up for lost time.”
