We all deserve better than this

I cannot believe that Calderdale are already complaining of a £16 million budget deficit and talking of dark times.

If decisions about Halifax were made in a business like manner things might not be so dark.

You need footfall in the town and this can only be generated by a positive response to the situation.

Businesses in the town are pulling out all the stops to get things going but the council seem to have decided that the rest of 2020 should be forgotten.

For goodness sake, encourage people to enter the Piece Hall and not make it difficult to get into.

Open the schools instead of making excuses as to why they shouldn’t open. The children of Calderdale deserve better than this . Their mental and physical health are suffering because of inaction on the part of councillors.

Opening of the libraries and museums is essential – have all the council staff taken absence from work, unlike the private employees? We would all be starving to death if supermarkets, local shops, delivery drivers etc, elected not to work

There is plenty of work council staff could be doing – Manor Heath is a prime example. The staff there have kept the park in pristine condition. Why have the pavements and roads of Calderdale been neglected? All the tips could be open by now and then perhaps fly tipping would reduce.

Don’t just sit back and ask the government to bail you out, do something positive. The people of Calderdale deserve better than this.
