Firm supports business couple
A BRIGHOUSE firm has showed its support for a couple that has seen business thrive during coronavirus.
Edgars Dubrovs and Daina Rozentale settled in the UK after leaving Latvia eight years ago. They previously worked separate jobs to get by as they settled into their new life, before building a new business repairing, refurbishing and selling gardening equipment.
The pair now operate out of a mid-sized unit in Halifax, which also includes office space for Daina to handle the administrative side of the business while partner Ed tackles maintenance and repairs.
Daina said: “The whole idea started from just fixing old strimmers, but we saw potential for a business and it’s grown into something that allows us to make a living and work together.”
And while the Coronavirus pandemic has caused misery for many local traders and business owners, Ed and Daina have been able to capitalise on the opportunities presented.
“We sell quite often to professional gardeners, but also to many people who are just passionate about gardening, which is why the lockdown was actually a great opportunity for us,” Daina added. Ed and Daina have been supported in their ambitions by Brighouse-based Cooper Accounting.
Founder Samantha Stokes said: “I was really inspired hearing Ed and Daina’s story. It’s a great example of entrepreneurial spirit in toughest of situations, and even more impressive after moving thousands of miles to start a new life in the UK.
“I have helped the guys make the transition to becoming a limited company, which opens up almost limitless possibilities for future growth. The DIY industry is big business and it can often be tough for the little guy, so it’s great to see companies like Ed and Daina’s performing so well.
“As the UK braces for its biggest ever recession, we must all redouble our efforts to support local people and their businesses.”
