CONTINUED FROM back

Garside began his professional career with Gateshead Thunder back in 2010, going on to make over 230 senior appearances to date with clubs across the league.

The 29-year-old back rower joined Fax from rivals Bradford for 2020, and made five appearances in the blue and white before cancellation of the Championship division was confirmed.

But Garside was optimistic and looking to the future as he set his sights on pre season.

“I’m really happy to have resigned for the club after a challenging few months for everyone,” he told the club’s website.

“Myself and the rest of the lads are chomping at the bit to get back training and playing in front of the fax fans. I look forward to seeing you all down at The Shay again soon.”

Simon Grix said: “Matt has proved a great addition to the team both on and off the pitch. He is respected by his team mates as his game is based on effort and his actions back his words. I don’t feel we have seen the best of him yet.”

Homegrown product Calcutt, 23, will enter his fifth season with Fax.

“I’m really pleased to be staying at the club,” he said. “I’m feeling positive about next year, can’t wait to get back into pre season and get stuck in with the lads.”

Calcott started his rugby league career with local community giants Siddal, and joined our reserve grade ranks through the College Pathway system before progressing to first team football, making his full debut in a fiesty defeat at Leigh Sports Village during the 2017 Super 8s Qualifiers.

The Fax forward has made 14 senior appearances for the club, aiding his development further with additional spells on loan at Rochdale Hornets, West Wales Raiders, and Hunslet.

“Will is another who has progressed well since joining from what is now the Halifax Academy at Calderdale College”, said Grix.

“He’s physically getting better and better, he has a great attitude and I look forward to helping him progress further in 2021.”
