‘A stand out centre for the last decade’ - Grix hails new signing
Fax coach Simon Grix has expressed his delight after signing Greg Worthington on a twoyear deal.
Worthington has spent the last four years with Super League side Toronto Wolfpack.
He told the club’s website: “I’m really looking forward to pulling the Halifax shirt on and excited at the prospect of the 2021 season.
“After speaking with Simon about the direction that he wants to take the team, it seemed a really great fit for me to take on.
“In this next chapter of my career, running out at The Shay in front of the Halifax faithful can’t come quick enough and I look forward to meeting all involved with the club and enjoying a successful season.”
The 30-year-old centre has 141 senior appearances under his belt, scoring 70 tries.
During his eight seasons in the division, he has represented the table topping side on seven occasions.
He boasts two Championship Grand Final wins and two promotions to Super League.
Grix said: “Greg has been a stand out centre for the last decade in the Championship.
“He is renowned for his solid defence but also has a strong offensive game.
“He’ll roll the sleeves up for the tough stuff and has demonstrated his ability to get himself or his winger over the line consistently.”
“He’s a great fit for us in terms of experience playing abilities.
“I am looking forward to seeing him in blue and white.”
Among those alongside Worthington at The Shay next season will be Will Calcott and Matt Garside, who have both signed new deals.
