Wild proud of his team’s efforts in defeat at Solihull
FC HALIFAX Town boss Pete Wild said he was proud of his players in defeat after they were beaten 2-1 at Solihull.
Martin Woods gave Town a first-half lead before James Bell quickly brought the hosts level. Striker Kyle Hudlin won the game with a stunning strike in a second-half dominated by The Shaymen.
“If reports are to be believed, they’ve got nearly a million pound more budget than us and we’ve just gone toe-to-toe with them and been far and away the better side,” said Wild.
“Two worldies have won it, we could do better, certainly with the second one, so there are bits we need to do better there.
“But we’ve had chance after chance after chance and, unfortunately, just not taken them.”
Wild added: ”But the performance, the style of play, gives me hope.
“I think you’re seeing a dominant team that’s going to places like Solihull, one of the so-called bigger teams in this league, and we’re showing we’re punching with teams like that.”
Woods nodded in Luke Summerfield’s cross to give Town the lead but that was quickly wiped out by Ball’s sweetly-struck shot from the edge of the box.
Then from a long free-kick, Hudlin managed to get the ball under control before unleashing a thunderbolt across goal from 25 yards into the top right corner.
Town dominated the secondhalf, but failed to find the net again, with Jack Earing twice going close and Neil Byrne heading against the post.
