School staff and pupils give to less fortunate

-

A CALDERDALE school has gone above and beyond to help those less fortunate during the Christmas period.

Brighouse High School, in Finkil Street, have been collecting donations from pupils and staff for the Brighouse Central Foodbank (BCF), which is run by Central Methodist Church.

Staff and pupils brought in wrapped presents for children labelled with age and boy or girl suitability, along with a pile of food and presents for the BCF to hand out.

Richard Horsfield, Headteacher Brighouse High School, said: “We’re delighted that the pupils and staff at Brighouse High School have thrown their all into supporting our local community at what is often a difficult time of year for so many families.

“We’ve watched the growing pile of children’s gifts and food donations with a sense of pride and we hope that they go some way to making the holiday period a little brighter than it may have been for some.”

The collaboration is part of a Central Methodist Church’s project, Brighouse Central Christmas Angel Mission.

Jodi Paige, Children and Families Worker, Central Methodist Church, said: “Thank you for the generosity and kindness of all the community who have come together to make Brighouse Central Christmas Angel Mission a success.Every child deserves gifts under the tree at Christmas.”

The parcels and gifts for children from low-income families are each worth around £47 and distributed by the Brighouse Central Foodbank.
