Colleagues are given an additional holiday day to spend with families. So they get paid and spend the day with families, not many other businesses do this.

I work for Tesco and I really don’t see the problem here? Either work it or don’t, we don’t get paid for bank holidays if we don’t work. Yes it’s annoying and irritating to see our friends and loved ones finish work earlier than us etc but we all know Christmas is a busy time for us in retail, if I hated it that much I would have to find another job.
