Dream holiday from travel firm

- Tom Scargill

A HALIFAX travel company has recognised the selfless work of a social care worker by giving her and her partner a two-week Caribbean holiday.

Tyler Brown Travel, which opened an office next to the Piece Hall in August this year, received over 200 nominations for their prize, and chose Michelle Adamson, 40, from Liverpool, as the winner.

Fiona Whitehead, who lives in Halifax and is the Travel Agency Manager for Tyler Brown Travel.

She said: “I was so moved and impressed that Michelle coordinated a range of Tik Tok videos celebrating social care workers, this having over 100,000 views. Michelle started a local social campaign highlighting the importance of their works and also to celebrate the social care workforce.

“Michelle conducted a range of interviews on the radio and in local and national news outlets, all helping to raise fellow carers spirits and to show how much they are valued.

“Sadly, Michelle was struck down by ill health earlier this year, which has forced her to stay at home, however her spirits and passion for her work have remained strong and she has continued to lift and support others.”

Fiona has worked in the travel industry for 28 years, working in the centre of Halifax and then going on to own and manage Whitesands Travel and Travel Counsellors,

“I started working for Tyler Brown Travel in August this year, which of course was in the middle of the pandemic,” she said. “Covid has made my role challenging, but now with the vaccine available very shortly and more borders open, I am sure more people will find confidence to book there next trip. It’s great to be back in Halifax doing the job I love and to award this amazing holiday to Michelle has been wonderful.”
