Red Star Reserves run riot at Flying Dutchman

IT WAS a very merry Christmas for Hebden Royd Red Star Reserves, who won 5-1 at Flying Dutchman to cement their place at the top of the Halifax AFL Division One table.

Goals from Joe Connor, Luke Gale, Max Gale, Robert Johnson and substitute Jordan Mitchell secured their seventh league win in nine games, with Jordan Pettifor finding the net for the hosts.

The only other game in the division last weekend saw a 3-3 thriller between Shelf United Reserves and Calder 76.

Rowan Binns, Billy Grogan and substitute Daniel Abel scored for hosts Shelf, with Bailey Dawson, Chris Bower and substitute Jacob Shaw on target for the visitors.

A hat-trick from Sam Cole helped Division Two leaders AFC Crossleys reserves to a 6-2 home win over Warley Rangers.

Dion Ozabruk, Morgan Cummings and Ben Cartwright also scored for the home side, while Simon Bushe-Bostock and Jorge Westin-Pearson netted for Warley.

Second-placed Greetland AFC Reserves went one better and thrashed Calder 76 Reserves 7-1, with four goals from Kacper Stefanski, two from Jordan Winter and one from Darryl Camp.

There was also an away win for Thornton, who beat St Columas Reserves 5-3.

Results - Division One: Flying Dutchman 1-5 Hebden Royd Red Star Reserves, Shelf United Reserves 3-3 Calder 76 First. Division Two: AFC Crossleys Reserves 6-2 Warley Rangers, Calder 76 Reserves 1-7 Greetland AFC Reserves, St Columbas Reserves 3-5 Thornton CC FC.
