‘We have got each other’s back’
TWIN SISTERS Olivia and Shannon Wilson from Brighouse have wowed their fellow Slimming World members by losing an incredible 17 stone between them.
Following months of chronic back pain which led to back surgery Olivia joined a slimming world group to help her lose the weight that she needed to, to prevent further complications after the surgery.
Olivia said: “After the surgery something just clicked inside me, I told myself that I had been given the chance to regain control of myself and my life, I feel that I have grown as a person and I’ve finally learnt how to believe in and love myself.”
She has lost 9st 7lbs with the help of her fellow members and her consultant.
Twin sister Shannon joined the group in lockdown
May 2020. She said: “When I weighed in at home, my heart sank, I’d convinced myself I wasn’t that big, I’ve never felt so upset about my weight.” In just over seven months Shannon has lost an astounding 7st 7lb and said she was so grateful that Slimming World found a way to run their supportive, encouraging groups on a virtual platform during lockdown.
The sisters live together and plan all their evening meals each week, some of their favourites are pasta Bolognese bake, pizza bagels with carrot chips, and toad in the hole, family favourites cooked in a healthier food optimising way.
Michaela Edmondson, who runs the Brighouse Tuesday Evening group, said: “I couldn’t be prouder of the twins. They are fantastic ambassadors for Slimming World and what they have achieved – especially during the last few months which have been incredibly tough for many of us – is nothing short of incredible. I’m constantly inspired by both Olivia and Shannon’s determination each week; they are now beaming with confidence and they’ve definitely made changes for life.”
