Win over Altrincham lifts Town back into play-offs
FC HALIFAX Town boss Pete Wild says his side is “brimming with character” after their 3-2 win over Altrincham at The Shay.
Luke Summerfield, Billy Chadwick and Martin Woods scored for Town as they moved up into the play-off places.
“I thought they (Altrincham) played really well, I thought they gave us a lot of problems, problems we haven’t really come across this year as well,” Wild said.
“But when we were on top we didn’t game manage well, and kill the game, slow the game, raise the momentum when we needed to, slow the momentum down when we needed to, and we gave them a chance and we made it a contest all the way to the end, which is frustrating.
“We’ve had eight games this month so we’re done, we’re tired. But character’s key and the boys are brimming with character, and they saw the game out, which pleases me no end.”
A handball from King’s low cross handed Town a penalty, which Summerfield blasted into the top right corner.
Chadwick then netted his third goal in four games with a perfectly-placed low right-footed shot.
But great work from former Town winger Matty Kosylo was capped off when Josh Hancock converted his low cross.
Woods restored Town’s twogoal cushion seconds after the interval with a superb left-footed strike across goal.
Sub Dan Mooney met a cross from the left with a marvellous first-time finish, but Town held out to end 2020 on a high.
