New lease of life for slimmer Lisa
A WOMAN from Elland is celebrating after losing half her body weight and winning a golden slimming award.
Lisa Childs has lost a lifechanging 9st 11.5lbs to win Slimming World’s ‘Club 50’ Award.
Lisa, who previously weighed 19 stone 8lbs, said: “I’ve been overweight for 13 years of my life. I’m so proud and happy to win this award, especially in such a year with the pandemic.
“I feel like a new woman since losing weight – in fact, I look so different that people who I haven’t seen for a while often can’t believe I’m the same person. For me though it’s the change on the inside that’s been the greatest – I’m happier, healthier and much more confident now.”
The 59-year-old joined the Elland group, which is run by Lynn Parker, in April 2017.
“My weight impacted on so many aspects of my life, from struggling to find clothes that I like to fit, to not being able to do simple everyday tasks without feeling tired and out of breath,” she said.
“Before I lost weight I hated having my photo taken and whenever I saw pictures of myself I didn’t feel like my smile was real – yet now I’m beaming!”
After seeing a story on Facebook and searching online, Lisa decided to join her local Slimming World group.
“Walking through those doors was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done,” she said. “I was embarrassed about my size and scared that I might be the biggest person there. I needn’t have worried though, everyone there was so friendly.”
