VACCINATION

Key workers will get first priority for Covid vaccine after over-50s

What about shop workers who have worked all way through?

Carol Hall

I hope shop workers are included in this key workers part as we have to work all the way through this and mixing with so many customers everyday.

Julie Staniland

Love how those risking their lives on a daily basis on covid sites seem to have been forgotten about.

Patrick Fay

Don’t forget security are key workers as well so should be in line now...

Barbie J Eveson

I hope they remember the nursery nurses this time.

Jenny Crowther

Does this include all the staff on the front line at the test centres?

Julie Sherwood

I don’t believe they know what they are doing, myself and my daughter have been invited for a vaccine. I’m under 50, my daughter is 22, no health conditions, yet key workers and the vulnerable have not all had it yet!

Claire Buxton

Key workers should have had it first at the beginning. Brendon Bremner Sullivan

Teachers should be in the higher priorities, they are childcare for key workers. Get the kids back in school. Cheznie Dippy Johnson-Hartlebury

All the clinically extremely vulnerable haven’t been done yet.

Jaki Taylor

I don’t know why it is not understood that the vaccination programme is first and foremost about reducing death and serious illness in those most likely to suffer the worst effects of this disease. It’s not a magic wand or a pass of some sort like a get out of jail free card in Monopoly. There is no proof yet that it stops anyone vaccinated from carrying the virus and passing it on. It HAS to be given to those groups most at risk. Not of exposure but at risk of dying or being seriously ill. The older you are, the other illnesses you already have - these are the factors. Yes, you are exposed more if you work in a shop, or a school, for example but that alone is not the biggest factor. The docs and nurses etc have been included because they are needed to save lives and treat those who are sick. The less people who are sick, the sooner all of our NHS services can get back to full capacity and save lives and treat people (any people no matter what they do for a job) who are suffering with other illnesses, cancer for example. It’s straightforward and common sense if only people would take in the full facts instead of yelling “me next”.

Karen D’Alcana

The reason we have vaccination is to reduce death or serious illness therefore the priority list is completely right, teachers, police are usually fit and well and will get the vaccination as able.

LOCKDOWN

Boris Johnson ‘optimistic’ about prospects for easing of lockdown

It will take people a long time to adjust to a normal way of life, even when somebody decides lock down is over. We really need to get back to being like normal people ASAP.

Julian Foster

It would be nice to never have to go back to sharing enclosed spaces with people coughing and sneezing.

Tom Goulding

Let’s have the shops back open, especially small businesses that are suffering hitting them hard in the pocket. Some may never reopen after this - lockdown might have finished them off. Feel so sorry for them people. Big businesses manage to get by, but not all of them as in the cases of Top Shop, Miss Selfridges, Topman and Debenhams.

Guy Antony Moxon

It will be eased, hopefully as and when it’s safe to do so. Politicians are the last people to be entrusted with such an important decision.
