Get rid of this eyesore

The scheme eventually got merged into the present day ‘Fitness Membership’ scheme, and the price went up as members could access the facilities at all times and at all Calderdale sites, but it has represented great value and continues to do so to this day – Covid disruption excepted!

Since that day in 1990, right up until mid-March 2020 when the pool closed, I attended every weekday, holidays excepted, for a daily swim. If the pool was ever closed for maintenance, I would go to another Calderdale pool. I have made a number of good friends at Halifax pool, both swimmers and staff.

I miss seeing them, and I am very saddened by the pool’s closure. Although I will be attending at Brighouse Pool on a daily basis as soon as I am able to, it will not be as convenient as I work in Halifax, and will now have to face the morning commute from Brighouse to Halifax at peak time, something I was previously able to avoid.

I sincerely hope it will not be too long before I can swim again in Halifax, and send good wishes to all the staff and customers at Halifax Pool.

WHEN is something going to be done about the dilapidated mill in Old Lane, North Halifax that used to be, I think, the Canal Dyeworks and which should have been demolished many years ago?

I recall that a boy was seriously injured there last year and at the time noises were made about improving safety at the site, but as usual nothing seems to have been done. This
