I THINK it was probably a fair result in the end on Tuesday night.

When you go down to 10 men, you just don’t want to lose the game when you’re in that position. But I think if we’d had 11 men we were probably the only team that was going to go on and snatch all three points.

We limited a good Hartlepool team down to maybe three, four chances, one they took, one was a great save from Sam.

But we created enough, we just couldn’t find the back of the net.

We’ve played the socalled big two in the last two games and to get positive results against them is pleasing. Gutted that we couldn’t take all three last night, which we all thought we deserved, but a point’s a point in the right direction and keeps the little run going.

It’s always disappointing to switch off at a set piece, lose your men. We expected them to come up with some creativity on corners, and it was just a lack of concentration, that split second, and it went in the back of the net. But we showed our character to come back and get a goal.

It’s been a bit of a different role for me in the last couple of games from the rest of this season, it’s obviously a role I’ve played in my time at Halifax and that I enjoy. It’s just pleasing to be playing games, captaining the side, showing my worth and giving my all.

I think the formation has had a better flexibility for us, we’ve been a little bit more solid in our structure.

The 3-5-2 is exciting and attacking but it’s always good to have more weapons in your armoury and formations to change to in games. We played well against Torquay and the gaffer wanted to stick with it.

We’ve got to give Wealdstone the respect they deserve and go and turn them over after what they did at our place when a lot of the lads had just come back from Covid. Hopefully we can go and put that one right.
