School finally gets celebration
ELLAND CHURCH of England School has finally been able to celebrate their good Ofsted rating a year on from receiving it.
The school was awarded the rating in March last year but then had to close due to the cornavirus outbreak.
Although there was a partial reopening for schools in June, the school did not see their pupils as a whole again until September 2020 and only now have they had the chance to celebrate the accolade by holding an Ofsted Celebration Day.
The theme of the day was ‘good’. Children and staff were invited to wear what made them feel good.
There were party clothes, casual clothes, fancy dress and even pyjamas.

All activities during the day were aimed at feeling good.
Each class was also treated to a Zoom party with magician and entertainer Josh Benson, their classrooms. who spent the day Zooming in with all age groups.
Staff were treated to a special lunch and the school kitchen made sure everyone had celebratory cake.
Louise Hartley, headteacher, said: “I am delighted that we have finally been able to celebrate our wonderful Ofsted report as a school.
“The hard work and dedication from all was recognised in the report and the attitude and enthusiasm for further improvement is shared amongst all at Elland CE.
“The challenges we, and all schools, have faced since our inspection could not have been predicted.
“I am so proud of the way staff, children and families have coped over the last year and the celebration marked the safe return of our school community as well as our Ofsted achievements.
