Discover new bands and stay connected with your favourites

-

Fans who love listening to new music or songs by their favourite band may have found it a tough task during lockdown when venues have been closed. Nothing beats the atmosphere of watching a live show where an energetic band powers their way through killer tunes to entertain their adoring public or bonding with fellow fans over a few beers at the bar as you discuss the top songs of the night.

With a slow, cautious return to normality, we still have a few weeks left to wait before we can return to the feelgood spirit of live entertainment. At the earliest in England, we can expect music venues to start reopening on May 17, but that is dependent on strict controls. There will be a maximum of 1,000 people allowed in or half the venue’s capacity whichever is the smallest.

Even then, some fans may be wary about mingling with crowds in an enclosed environment and it could be some time before that confidence returns.

Whether you are itching to watch live gigs just as soon as those doors open or planning to wait for a few months to let the heat die down, you can still keep in touch with music by your favourite band or unsigned artists.

Riding the wave of demand seen during the pandemic for online music performances, a new social media app has been launched on the Google and App Store.

The Pefoma app gives fans access to exclusive content, while live stream performances include a comment feature where they can say hello, make song requests and chat with other viewers – instantly reacting to what’s happening on screen.

Fans will be able to buy a live stream in advance and will be sent a unique code giving them access to the performance at the date and time shown.

Content from artists that match fans’ selection of music genre as well as artists that they follow will appear in their home feed.

Steve Arinze, who founded Pefoma last year, said: “This is the only social media app of its kind where fans can enjoy direct access to musicians and their content.

“The brilliant reality is that fans can follow as many artists as they like.

“For the first time ever, fans can truly feel part of their favourite artists’ story right from the very beginning, while the musicians themselves have more control over their brand than ever before.”

Artists can upload music videos and monetise live stream performances to music lovers all on a single platform, without the need for third-party payment or booking integration. Pefoma is also the only known platform where artists earn all revenue generated from their profile, with no fees or cut of revenue taken when using the app.

The Pefoma app has no joining or sign-up fee and is available for bands of all music genres.

Any content that is reported as being explicit, distasteful or inappropriate is liable to action being taken if it contravenes guidelines.
