Go out and impose yourselves, urges Wild against Weymouth

-

TOWN MANAGER Pete Wild wants his side to impose themselves when they host strugglers Weymouth on Monday.

The Shaymen will have Easter Friday off due to that day’s scheduled game against Dover being scrapped after they dropped out of the league this season, while Weymouth host Maidenhead that day.

Weymouth are 20th in the table having won only seven out of 29 league games this season.

“I think they’ve had some really good results against some of the bigger teams this year,” said Wild. “They pose a threat going forward. Even the games they’ve lost, like Chesterfield on Saturday, they’re all very tight, close games, so I think we can expect a really tough test on Monday.

“We have to be on the front foot, we’ve got to go and impose ourselves on them and not wait for things to happen.”

When asked if it was a mustwin game for The Shaymen in the race for the play-offs, Wild said: “Every game’s a must-win isn’t it, we want to win every game, and we’ll be going out to try and win the game. The more games we win the more chance we have of being where we want to be.”

Halifax come into the game on the back of an encouraging display against league leaders Sutton last weekend.

“Be on the front foot, go and dominate them, go and drop on second balls,” said Wild when asked what he wants to see from his side. “Watching the (Sutton) game back, our press, dropping on second balls, our relentless nature, even when they got back in the game, we’ve had three or four chances to win it, but it’s come down to two set-pieces unfortunately. But we just need to keep playing like that and we’ll be fine if we chuck in good performances over the next 13 games of that nature more than we don’t.”
