Club excited for training to finally restart
HALIFAX SPORT Karate returns after a year of closure due to Covid-19.
The karate club in Halifax is home to around 300 students and has provided karate lessons to the public for the last 15 years, but it was forced to shut in doors in late March 2020.
It has battled to keep going throughout the pandemic and the government lockdowns and restrictions though, and in April 2020 moved its lessons onto Zoom and has been doing online lessons throughout this period to ensure their members are supported both physically and mentally.
Through 2020 they continues to run their normal sessions and also held social events most weekends to keep the club members in contact and keep the family feel of the club going.
The club appointed a Mental Health Ambassador and held sessions to give members some insight into looking after their mental health as well as physical health.
They also held an online Zoom karate course to raise money for the local NHS which featured karate athletes from around the country and raised over £300.
“We are proud that our all members have continued to push themselves in their own personal development ,” said Chief Instructor Matt Handley, “with many of our members still pursuing their dreams of representing England and there national team, they have continued to attend the sessions provided to them from the Governing body.
“We are so excited and ready to get back to training.
“Under-18s sessions will be beginning on April 12th and seniors will be welcomed back to the club from May 17th, provided the roadmap goes to plan.”
