Thickett could be the key man as Northowram take on Red Star

-

NORTHOWRAM GET their season back underway with a tough looking game at Hebden Royd Red Star on Saturday.

The Rams, despite early season struggles, have managed some impressive results and are capable of giving the hosts plenty to think about.

Striker Rory Thickett could be their key man with his abundance of pace and his knack of finding the net.

Red Star however have their own goal machine in Lewis Cockroft who cannot be afforded any freedom by the Rams.

AFC Crossleys had a good win last week with Lewis Oldridge scoring twice in the win over Hebden Royd.

A trip to Greetland is next up for Paul Birchall’s side where they will start favourites but it could be far from easy for them.

In the First Division, Calder 76 face St Columbas. Both sides were pushing for honours before the lockdown and should be the sides to beat again.

St Columbas started with a win last week and will be confident but Calder are hard to beat on home soil and it could end up being a tight affair.

Denholme United host Ivy House in what looks a tricky affair with perhaps the visitors just having the edge.

AFC Crossleys Res started their Second Division campaign with a big win last week.

Three goals and a man of the match performance from Nicholas Meade was the key.

Crossleys will be looking for more of the same when they entertain Greetland Res.

St Columbas face Warley Rangers at Natty Lane. Warley despite losing last week look the likely winners.

The new-look season restarted last Saturday with a different format after several teams made the decision not to continue.

The season will comprise of three mini leagues while there will no promotion or relegation.
