OSCARS

Gerard Riordan

Was Chadwick Boseman snubbed at the Oscars? Why fans are angry at Anthony Hopkins

Not Hopkins’ fault, he wasn’t the one who voted for himself, silly.

Beverly Golesworthy

Here is a strange idea, maybe just maybe, Anthony Hopkins is the better actor.

Darren Smith

Who actually cares who wins the Oscars these days, as it’s not always the most worthy that win. However, I think it would have been a nice gesture if they could have given Chadwick a posthumous award for his contributions to the film industry and his charitable endeavours.

Jen Mac

There are always upsets, both actors were highly esteemed enough to be nominated.

Daria Kushmelyn

Wouldn’t say snubbed at all. They were all good otherwise they wouldn’t have made the list. I voted for Steven. Loved Chadwick in the Panther role but haven’t seen this film. I aim to. He will be sorely missed.

Marc Swazy Swagrzyk

Surely it’s the people that vote that are responsible for the outcome? Am I missing something?

Denise Thompson

Chadwick Boseman was a very gracious man. And as such, had he been at the Oscars he would have applauded Sir Anthony Hopkins getting an Oscar. An actor of many abilities. Yes, this young man was a beacon of light but he would most probably hate that people used his name to cast shadow on the Oscars. Beautiful young man. Fantastic older actor. End of.

Lynne Midgley

I thought that was the point of the Oscars, it’s not known who’s won until the night. Otherwise no point holding them. There probably should have been some recognition of his unfortunate passing though.

Neil Abbott

Anthony Hopkins is one of our greatest living actors.

Hamish Coventry

He didn’t win because he wasn’t the best actor. Simple as that.

Paul Wayman

Probably the best actor ever, Hopkins deserves it.

Matthew Coupe

This wasn’t a posthumous Oscar it was for acting ability.

Ian Gwyer

I’m pretty sure if Chadwick was alive he would have wanted his Oscar to have been won fair and square and not been given to him as a token gesture because he passed away.

In fact I’m sure of that, any proud individual would. The problem here is the amount of people disrespecting the poor man’s legacy by involving him in this when he is now at rest. Whether you are one of those carrying on because he wasn’t given the award, one of those using it as an excuse to use it as a race weapon or even prove a point, you should all show some respect for the deceased and let him rest in peace.

Some people have just got no shame in their game. God bless his soul.
