Venture gets tails wagging

- Abigail Kellett

TWO EXPERIENCED dog walkers in the Upper Calder Valley are teaming up together to start a new venture which is sure to have the hounds of Calderdale licking their lips.

Julie Muldowney and Issy Pollard, both based in Hebden Bridge, will open the doors of Valley Raw at Richmond Mill, Richmond Street, Todmorden this weekend.

The shop will specialise in a range of “raw” dog food and treats and will offer “complete” options to make life easier for pet owners.

An increasing number of dog owners are turning to raw feeding which involves feeding pets unprocessed food made up of 80% meat, 10% bone and 10% offal for a healthy diet.

“I started feeding my dog Banksy raw seven years ago when he was a couple of year’s old and he thrives on it. We wanted to set up a shop locally for dog owners in Calderdale which offered a range of raw dog food options which can be ready made as complete package to make it easier for them to do raw feeding.”

The shop will also offer an online service via the website www.valleyraw.co.uk initially offering a click and collect service and eventually offering home delivery to Calderdale and surrounding areas.

Issy and Julie have had no shortage of volunteers to test the new goodies which will be on offer in the shop.

“We’re keen to support other local business in the area too so we will also be selling other pet accessories produced locally, including Mollie and Ted collars who are based in Walsden,” Issy said.

The shop will open to fourlegged-friends and their owners on Saturday May 1.
