Summer live concerts set to bring good times back

-

Fantastic summer sounds are on the way with outdoor concerts planned across the north, and now at new venues in the south of the country.

Sounds in the

Grounds brings uplifting and socially distanced picnic concerts for summer 2021.

Tickets are on sale for dates stretching from June to August, so prepare to dine and dance amid great scenery in the open air.

Live music can be enjoyed in West Wycombe Park (Buckinghamshire) from

July 9 to 11, and Kirtlington Park Polo Club (Oxfordshire) from August 13 to 15, along with the Clocktower Enclosure of York Racecourse on June 25 to 27, Scampston Hall, Malton from June 11 to 13, or Ripley Castle from August 20 to 22.

Over three evenings audiences can see and hear internationally renowned bands from designated picnic patches for two, four or six people. All will be socially distanced but close enough for a fun atmosphere.

With LED screens on either side of the stage, Sounds in the Grounds features top acts including Beyond the Barricade, with past principals from Les Misérables in the West End and on UK tour, performing best-loved songs from the world’s greatest musicals.

From London’s West End to Las Vegas, ABBA MANIA is the world’s number one touring ABBA tribute and has performed in 30-plus countries over the last two decades, with platforms, flares and all the hits.

Or A Country Night in Nashville recreates the vibes of down town Nashville, in a true celebration of country music, with songs from its biggest stars.

Returning by popular demand is Glastonbury favourite, The New York Brass Band, to get the party started as support act to each concert, performing repertoires from jazz to 80s to current hits.

Also this summer, at Scampston Hall and Ripley Castle, are a new line-up of bands. The Definitive Rat Packwithrecreationsof

Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr in a sublime evening of swing; a rock ‘n’ roller coaster ride through four decades of Tina Turner’s greatest hits in One Night of Tina; and Killer Queen, who recreate the iconic songs and showmanship of one of the greatest ever rock bands with electrifying precision.

Sounds in the

Grounds concerts are designed to comply with all official guidance on Covid-19, ensuring audiences can enjoy live music outdoors in a safe and responsible way.

The picnic patches will be defined by painted lines in the grass arena and will be set out in alternating rows. There will be distinct patches for two people, followed by a row of patches for four people, then for six people. Patches will be one metre apart, with two-metre aisles between rows.

Producer James Cundall said: “After the success of Sounds in the Grounds last summer, we are thrilled to add West Wycombe Park and Kirtlington Park Polo Club to our list of prestigious venues! From Broadway and rock classics to Dancing Queen and Dolly Parton, I hope we have something for everyone.”

He added: “Without doubt the New York Brass Band is one of York’s best exports and it will be wonderful to get them on stage in their home city. Importantly it’s an opportunity for both musicians and crew to showcase their talent again after months of inactivity during these difficult times.”

Tickets are on sale now, from £59 (plus booking fees) at https://soundsinthegrounds.seetickets.com site.
